About Me

Who dat?

February 1, 2010; one thing led to another and I found myself in the gym at lunch time, 6’2” and weighing in at 325lbs. As the weeks passed by and I began to enjoy sweating, I discovered that I could run and enjoy it as well. I fired up the CouchTo5K program, and began running further and longer than I ever imagined.

5k, 10k, 15k, Half Marathon, these distances became familiar to me over the last half of 2010 as I trained and raced. While I ran further distances, I became increasingly interested in how far I might be able to move my body. On June 4, 2011, I completed my first marathon in Newport, OR. On October 29, 2011, I completed my first ultramarathon at Champoeg State Park in Oregon.

Along with running and paying attention to my fitness level, came a focus on my nutrition. Pounds were melting away with each passing month, and by the middle of February in 2011 I had surpassed the 100lb weight loss milestone. How much more do I have to go? I imagine I could lose another 20lbs and have a fairly healthy body fat percentage. The last 20 is no doubt going to be very hard. Time will tell.
